Despite the best efforts of well-intentioned REALTORS®, disagreements still occur. NEIAOR offers a professional standards process in conjunction with IAR to members that is far less expensive than litigation—first through mandatory mediation and secondly through arbitration if mediation is unsuccessful.

REALTORS® everywhere have pledged to meet the high professional standards of the Code of Ethics upon becoming members of the Northeastern IN Association of REALTORS®. The single, most outstanding characteristic that sets REALTORS® apart from other real estate practitioners is the willingness to accept and abide by the Code of Ethics. The Code of Ethics, which was first adopted in 1913, is a living document responsive in its content to changes in law and industry. The Code has been revised several times through the years to reflect the current developments in professional real estate practice. By becoming a member of the Northeastern IN Association of REALTORS®, a real estate agent has made the decision to take an extra professional step. The Code of Ethics celebrated 100 years in 2013.
